These Could Be The Real Reasons Why Apple Ditch The Headphone Jack on iPhone 7

Apple's bold decision to remove the headphone jack on iPhone 7 is a controversial move made by the Cupertino company. Moreover, the headphone jack is still widely use on every phone in this godforsaken universe. Apple said that It is the time of wireless, and they're bragging on how brave they are to start the trend. But Apple's move is likely more about business rather than creating an evolution.

According to JerryRigEverything on his youtube channel, here are the reasons why Apple remove the jack.

1. Forces every accessories manufacturer to use Lightning ports.

According to Jerry, every time someone makes a lighting accessories, whether it is a cable, a dock, a speaker etc, They have to pay Apple a certain amount of money, whereas 3.5mm jack port is not own by Apple. So by removing the jack port, manufacturers' only port option is Lightning.

Also, compare to other proprietary ports like HDMI, Apple's lightning certificate is a whole lot more expensive. That's also explain the reason why Apple-related accessories are not cheap.

2. Waterproofing Jack Port is Expensive

iPhone 7's new feature is Waterproof. According to Jerry, It will cost Apple more if they have to waterproof the Jack port. And They're not making money out of jack port accessories, anyway.

3. Apple's dedication to Wireless Future is nonsense

One of the reasons why Apple remove the Jack port is that they're dedicating on to "Wireless Future". But if that is the case, then why they don't put the wireless charging feature that has been on so many smartphones over the last few years? According to Jerry, this is simply because they cannot make any money from wireless charging and instead, has to pay for royalty of using wireless charging techs.

But, It doesn't matter what really drives Apple on throwing away the headphone Jack, as for now the customers are the victims. Apple's solution to wireless future itself does not come in cheap. Their AirPods cost $159 and the Beats X cost you $149. The iPhone itself is expensive dude, come on.

Still, The iPhone 7 sales are sky-rocketing. Especially with the introduction of the RED iPhone. Nice move Apple, nice move.
